Journey Christian Ministries

The Rock Workshop @ Journey - “The Rock Workshop” is a program geared toward youth and adolescents offering musical instruction.  Our unique approach cultivates a love of playing music rather than boring students with endless hours of tedious practice that yields little result.  Students of all instruments learn music theory and instrumentation within the context of wholesome rock songs as they play in “bands” with other developing musicians.

Students major in the joy and fun of creating music with other students while developing higher character, values and interpersonal skills.

  • Instruction in the following areas:
              • Music Instrument Skills - drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano/keyboard, vocal training
              • Band Performance - working with other students in performance focused ensembles
              • Sound Engineering - small/home studio multitrack recording, post-prod mixing/mastering, live performance audio engineering

Instructors:

Volunteer:

Tim - Tim began his musical studies at age 10, studied music theory and instrumentation in college, and continues to study, compose and perform music.  He also has expertise in audio production, studio recording, and live sound engineering.  Tim enjoys teaching and assisting others in music technology, and more importantly, in the joy of artistic creation and expression.

Contracted Instructors:

Justin - Justin studied music at Cornell School of Contemporary Music with an emphasis in drum performance.  He is a performing musician and entertainer through "Justin Sigler Creative Enterprises", and is currently the drummer for Saul of Tarsus, a local band in Southern California.  Justin teaches drums and bass guitar, incorporating music theory and technique in a way that perserves the student's enjoyment of the instrument.

Sandy - Sandy is a teacher of voice as well as several other instruments.  Teaching music for 9 years via classes or private lessons in her business, A New Song, with other companies and Mt. San Jacinto College (music tutor), she has degrees in both Music and Humanities.  Sandy has 5 children of her own ranging from ages 16-26 and is a worship leader, praise team & choir member of her church.
